The food at @oysterclubct is simply one of the best you can find on the CT shoreline. This was our Outstanding menu last night: Cocktail No.22 made with pisco, gin, parsnip ‘milk’, clove, agave, lime, and whey (That Clove reminded me of the clove cigarettes the cool girl smoked in high school!) 

Oysters from WEQUETEQUOCK, CT, NINIGRET, RI and NIANTIC, CT 

RIGATONI made with foraged ramp, braised short rib, white bean and salsa verde 

DAYBOAT SCALLOPS made with herbed quinoa salad, cucumber, snow peas, yogurt, dill and toasted pinenuts

I did my best to recreate the FABULOUS “Hemingway G&T” made with Malfy Rosa Gin I had in Delray Beach, FL at @cut432steakhouse. It begins with the Italian @malfygin - the Rosa edition - a bright grapefruit flavor w aromas of rhubarb, anise, grapefruit. I mixed with @fevertree_usa Mediterranean tonic, fresh lime, and although I couldn’t get the bartender to tell me exactly what cherry or maraschino they used, I tried a splash  of Dr McGillicuddy Cherry Schnapps. I used a 3:5 ratio (3 parts gin, five parts tonic, because I really wanted to taste the gin). Isn’t this gin bottle gorgeous?! If you love gin, please try it and let me know if you like it.

Nothing like a home-cooked meal made by the one and only @kitty.fitz. Tonight, she made the most FABULOUS salad with watermelon, arugula, spinach, cucumber, onion, feta and mint with white balsamic dressing and…wait for it… pistachios!! I’m wild about pistachios so I loved both the taste and the texture. This plus a burger, grilled asparagus and some rosé made for a perfect, easy summer meal. And what a hostess. Love her!

I spent a glorious Reunion (long)weekend at @sarahlawrencecollege.  I celebrated a belated 25th alongside @presidentbunny , the best friend I made freshman year 1991. I celebrated my don, the incomparable Bella Brodzki, who retired recently. And I felt that familiar, nonetheless electric feeling I get being around the Sarah Lawrence community. For me this weekend wasn’t about reuniting with old friends. It was about the extraordinary conversations I had with people I had never met before who were nonetheless familiar to me because we Belong to this community. So invigorating! What a wonderful education. I’m so grateful for it! #sarahlawrencereunion #sarahlawrence #slcreunion #sarahlawrencecollege #sarahlawrencetogether

Another FABULOUS, heavenly breakfast at @theteakettlerestaurant in Old Saybrook #CT, which I ate 💯 guilt-free. Life is short and I’m going to savor what I can. On the menu today: Vanilla Vodka Blueberry & Cream Croissant French Toast: Warmed blueberries in a sweet vanilla vodka cream sauce, three sausage links, fresh whipped cream topped with maple butter & powdered sugar AND Peaches and Cream Waffle: warmed peaches in a sweet cream sauce, fresh whipped cream, topped with whipped maple butter, powdered sugar

Another taste of spring earlier tonight at @caferoutier. A “Pliny’s Tonic” - Gin, muddled cucumber, cane syrup, mint and a chile pepper tincture that I tasted on my lips after each sip.

My first @lobsterlanding lobster roll of the season!!! It’s my favorite destination for a Connecticut-style lobster roll. Here they serve a 1/4 lb steamed 🦞 along with the usual: warm butter and a squeeze of fresh lemon on a grilled hot dog roll. Yes, it’s as good as it looks! And the setting is classic New England.

For dinner tonight, I am LOVING this classic: a fish sandwich with lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce. My first of the season at @clamcastle. The haddock is from Ipswich, MA and it’s perfectly crusted and blackened. And, as always the staff at the Clam Castle is so nice, and so helpful. It really makes coming here a pleasure every single time.
